Got time for a weekend getaway to the Mile High City?
Here’s a list of favorites from our perspective:
Downtown Denver: RiNo, LoHi & Highland
Stay in a swanky hotel downtown Denver- We Chose The Ramble for bespoke look and feel and close to RiNo, LoHi and Highland district. (https://www.theramblehotel.com)
Play in “RiNo” It’s River North’s Art District, they’ve got great street art, tons of brew, and some eclectic shopping.
Eat your heart out in “LoHi”.

Wander into a Speakeasy, but first you have to find it! Reservations recommended. (https://www.retrogradednvr.com)
Scooter through downtown to get your bearings, it’s way more thrilling that driving through, plus you can take a cruise on the downtown trails. (https://www.denver.org/things-to-do/sports-recreation/city-parks/)
Like the idea of a day trip? Yea us too. It always feels good to be immersed into nature.
White Water Rafting the Royal Gorge is an incredible way to get out into the beautiful Rockies nature landscape but also experience the thrills of an adventure sport. If you love the rough rapids head down the Royal Gorge early June.
If you want a less buckle hitting experience heading down from July to Sept is more for you. https://royalgorgerafting.net
Not into getting wet? Or perhaps wanting a more leisurely experience? Instead ride the train! The Royal Gorge Rail is a lovely option. They have open cabins you can stand outdoors and feel one with nature. It’s pretty breathtaking traversing through the gorge. Plus if you get hungry or want a cold beverage they are full service. They even have full length windows to capture the view so you never miss a moment, so if sitting and having a meal is desired, this is still a great option for you. https://www.royalgorgeroute.com
Wondering where to stay in this micro city of Cañon City?
Try a yurt or airstream by the Arkansas River that will provide you with that full glamping experience. https://www.royalgorgeyurts.com
Colorado Springs: Tiny Home Bungalow
Or if Colorado Springs sounds more desirable you can split the difference between Denver and Canon City. It took us about 1.5 hrs to get down with traffic. *Expert tip - check Google Maps or Apple Maps for the faster route, saved us an extra hour of travel time because of traffic and construction.
Here’s a cute tiny home to switch up the overnight stay. This home offers up everything you could need to get some R&R before hitting the outdoors on your favorite Colorado Springs encounter.
And a delicious, most refreshing place for an early breakfast before you continue the drive back to Denver, must stop Ola. (https://www.olajuicebar.com)
Hope this helps for your trip to Denver and surrounding cities. Have fun, stay wise, make great memories!
